14.03.2010 - For the fourth consecutive day, the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) continue to deny access to the holy city of Jerusalem, preventing Palestinian prayers from performing their right of practicing and freedom of belief Further, it imposed a comprehensive closure on the West Bank, accompanied with the plans prepared by Israeli extremists to storm the holy Aqsa and the old city of Jerusalem under the allegation of celebrating the anniversary of the temple.
While the Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomes the encouraging position by the US administration, through the statements of Vice President Mr. Joe Biden and U.S. Secretary of State Ms. Hillary Clinton, concerning the recent Israeli announcement of its settlement activities, it would like to stress on the following:
1- The aggressive act committed by the Israeli occupation aims at
judaizing the city of Jerusalem and obliterating its Christian and
Muslim Arabic nature.
2- The intensive and accelerated pace of settlement activities
symbolizes Israeli plans to isolate the city of Jerusalem from the
rest of the Palestinian occupied territories.
3- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs calls on the International
Community and the Quarter to shoulder their responsibilities
towards such a crime against Christian and Moslem sacred
places.
